5 Essay Writing Mistakes You Might Want to Avoid

Essay writing is a craft that needs to be honed. It requires skill and creativity to be able to write great essays but not everyone innately possesses such skills. Although a fish may not need to learn how to swim, a human being does. So, mentioned here are 5 essay writing mistakes that you might most certainly want to avoid.
5 essay blunders to avoid
   1.    Let’s get back to basics because the basics are where most students falter. When you write an essay, do make sure that your spellings and punctuation are correct. Most students think only about writing great content but forget that these are the little things that make a big difference and form perception in the mind of the reader.
   2.      What most college admissions officers find a complete turn off is bad or incorrect grammar. Every student needs to pay a good amount of attention to this because if you make grammatical errors in a craft where you get to take your time, think and then write and then check and correct it, then it goes to show that you do not even possess basic language skills.
   3.      Most of the time it is found that paragraphs are written in big chunks which go beyond 4-5 lines. Any paragraph should not exceed 4 lines. There is scientific backing in this. What happens is, when a reader looks at paragraphs written in big chunks, he/she automatically loses interest in the writing because he/she feels that the writing is stretched and will turn out to be boring. Therefore make a habit out of writing short 3-4 line paragraphs to optimize readability quotient.
   4.      Please make yourself clear about which words in a title can have capital letters and which cannot. It is often found that essay titles have every word in capital letters. This cannot be the case since words like “the’, “to”, “in” and “for” among some others are never written in capital letters. There is no dispute upon this because it is just a rule followed in the English language.
   5.  Last but not least, please remember another golden rule. An essay has 3 paragraphs, an introduction, a body and a conclusion. You need to present an essay In this format in order to have any hope of pursing graduation. A student needs to learn the purpose of each of these 3 sections so that he/she can write essays effectively and coherently.
